Live with Meredith Recap – March 26, 2025
Silent Chat Reminder: Don’t forget, our next Silent Chat is this Thursday!
Story Time: Kate’s Birthday! This week, Meredith shared a sweet two-part story about Kate’s 11th birthday. First, she surprised Kate with a full bedroom makeover while she was at school—a cozy teen-inspired room complete with a new bed, desk, blanket, and even a last-minute delivery of a makeup/homework table (assembled just in time!). Kate came home and was blown away by the transformation.
Then came the party: a Friday night celebration with nine girls, pizza, DIY hat bar (complete with patches and jewels!), cookie cake, a backyard dance party, and a movie screening of True Spirit. The party wrapped up late, with friends chatting until midnight. It was a beautiful and chaotic week for the Rathbone family, and Meredith loved every moment.
Q&A Highlights:
- “Soul” can be signed as either SOUL or SPIRIT.
- “God’s providence” simplified as GOD GUIDE.
- “Outside” can be shown with a 1-handed or C-hand variation.
- Seasons (Spring, Summer, etc.) act as time markers and go at the beginning of a sentence.
- Want to lead a short ASL course in your community? Brian can help set up our curriculum for small groups.
- WH-questions like “HOW” in a yes/no format still use eyebrows up.
- The LHTS dictionary doesn’t yet support reverse lookups by sign, but Meredith offered tips and suggested using Discord for help.
- Cochlear implant is shown with a bent-V near the ear.
- For left-handed signers, move in the actual direction (e.g., RIGHT moves right).
- The correct sign for Canada is tapping an “A” hand on the chest—don’t pull the shirt.
Final Notes:
- Darla will be hosting an upcoming Live with Meredith soon so Meredith can cheer on Lane at soccer.
- We’re planning a simulcast soon for a wider audience—stay tuned!
- Lifetime memberships are still on sale for a short time. Want to upgrade? Email Brian for a custom discount code!
